The Digital mobile key (CMD) is a simple and secure mechanism for authenticating on various public and private websites, requiring only a mobile phone and a 4-digit PIN code. It is a simpler method (a password for all sites), more secure (temporary code sent by SMS or e-mail) and more convenient (without travel and waiting times).

 

Furthermore, the CMD allows digital signatures and is compliant with the eIDAS Regulation, presenting a High Level of Assurance as published in the OJEU 2020/C 116/01.  

 

It's activation is important, since practically all websites that offer public services, including ePortugal, now adopt this authentication system.

 

• Online: at authentication.gov.pt, with a Citizen Card and respective PIN code; in the Tax Authority portal, exclusively for authentication purposes (the password for activating the service is sent by physical email)

• In-person, with an identification document (Citizen Card, passport, residence title or card) and a mobile phone, in a Citizen Spot, a Business Spot, a counter of the Institute of Registries and Notary or in the Integrated Citizen Support Network (Azores). 

 

• Tax Authority, scheduling medical appointments, direct social security, online criminal record, renewal of the driving license, 360º school, birth registration, all the services available on ePortugal, among many others.

• Creation and registration of companies, brand-on-the-spot, certificates, social security, commercial and industrial establishments, registration of local accommodation, real estate mediation, among many others.
